What I fail to understand is, if houses in the 1960s were wired so poorly, why haven't house fires been rampant for the last fifty years? Regardless, we have to be safe, so electrical work that was supposed to take a day went on all week. Thankfully we left some room in our schedule and our budget for just this type of thing.
As of now, here is the status:
Rob has added a small bulkhead over what will become the breakfast bar between the kitchen and dining room to house pot lights. This still requires more drywall and mudding.
Pot lights will also be going over the kitchen sink in place of the flourescent light that used to be there.
All light switches and outlets throughout the house have been rewired and upgraded.
And finally, a couple of follow up photos.
Here is the (very dirty) tile in the entryway leading into the kitchen. It is going to look great when it is all cleaned up and the entryway has been painted.
And here is an "after" photo of the front jungle, with most of the weeds removed. A few have already made a re-appearance, so Patrick and his friend Alistair went straight to work.
And, finally, our house has had its youngest ever visitor, Kathryn. She was very impressed.
